Equations of Parallel Lines

So Much in Common

Have you heard the old math joke?

Parallel lines have so much in common...

....it's a shame they'll never meet.

The main thing they have in common, the thing you've just got to remember about parallel lines for the GED®  test: parallel lines share the same slope.

STEP 1: WATCH THE VIRTUAL CLASS VIDEO AND TAKE NOTES

Make sure to note the following:

If two lines are parallel, they share the same slope, or m in the slope-intercept equation. Use the slope from a parallel line, along with any point to solve for b and you've got everything you need to write the equation of the line in slope-intercept form.
