Equations of Lines from Points

A graph featuring a black line going diagonally to create two points which connect into a line.

Two Points Make a Line

It's easy enough to see that two points make a line when you're looking at a graph, but for the GED®  test, you need to be able to start with the coordinate pairs of two points and write the equation of the line that passes through them.

STEP 1: WATCH THE VIRTUAL CLASS VIDEO AND TAKE NOTES

Make sure to note the following:

There's just two things you need to know in order to write the equation of a line in slope-intercept form- m, the slope, and, b, the y-intercept. Use the slope formula to find m then solve for b. Finally, plug those values into y=mx+b.
